Mr Paul Doda

Paul Doda is General Counsel, Litigation & Compliance at Elsevier, the analytics and information publisher with offices throughout the world. Paul’s primary area of practice is litigation, with a current focus on copyright issues. During Paul’s tenure with Elsevier, the company has litigated copyright enforcement actions and engaged on related policy matters in various countries and regions around the world.

Paul is the Chairman of the International Publishers Association’s Copyright Committee and Anti-Piracy Working Group. Paul also chairs the Association of American Publishers’ Content Protection and Policy Committee and is a member of various other industry committees.

In March 2014, Paul testified before the US Congress concerning the challenges of copyright enforcement under the US Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA). His related journal article, Distinguishing Common Carriers from Common Thieves, was published by The Journal of the Copyright Society of the United States, in 2016.

Paul earned his JD in 1991 from Villanova Law School, where he was an editor of the Villanova Law Review, and earned his undergraduate degree from Montclair State College, summa cum laude, in 1987.
